Originally a transparent blue-violet rod, this is an experimental silver-rich colour that reveals its full character through careful flame work.
Fully work the glass in a hot neutral flame until it is completely melted through. Once your piece is finished, slowly introduce it to a gentle tip reduction at the outer edge of the flame. This develops a delicate layer of blue silver fume across the surface.
When the silver fume is encased or stretched during shaping, it creates beautiful flowing patterns that reveal warm golden highlights under changing light. The combination of cool blue tones, soft iridescence, and golden reflections gives this colour exceptional depth and visual movement.
The octopus shown in the photo features a clear glass base layered with this colour and is finished with RB104 dots for added depth and detail.
