Originally a transparent purple rod, this striking colour transforms beautifully through proper flame work.
Heat the glass in a hot neutral flame until it is fully worked through. During the process, a delicate silver fume develops across the surface. Techniques such as stretching, twisting, and surface manipulation enhance the fume, creating beautiful flowing patterns with exceptional depth and movement.
Once your piece is complete, a light reduction flame will bring the colour to life, revealing vibrant iridescent highlights and rich surface variation. The result is a dynamic finish with layered tones and striking visual texture that shifts beautifully under changing light.
The octopus shown in the photo features a clear glass base layered with this colour and is finished with RB104 dots for added depth and detail.
